Claude Weisbuch awarded Leon Brillouin Prize

The French Optical Society has awarded Claude Weisbuch with the €20000 Leon Brillouin Prize.  This prize is intended to reward a world-renowned optician who performs an important part of their research in France.  He will be presented with this award during the general conference of the SFO, to be held in Marseille, France from July 4-7, 2011.

Claude Weisbuch is a distinguished professor in the Department of Materials at UC Santa Barbara. He has been a researcher at the Laboratoire de Physique de la Matière Condensée at the Ecole Polytechnique as a Director of Research for the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) since 1997.
